While pesticides are commonly used to manage weeds, insects, and diseases on the golf course, you want to make sure your applications are as efficacious as possible. Your understanding of pesticide fate and behavior and will help you devise best management practices (BMPs) to maximize pest control and minimize possible injury to off-target plants. Travis Gannon, Ph.D., will help you learn more about the biological and chemical attributes of pesticides and how they behave after application on your course in this 90-minute webinar. He’ll also discuss how herbicides may cause adverse injury to the desired turf, providing specific examples of what not to do as well as details to help you review and implement your BMPs.

About the Instructor

Travis Gannon, Ph.D., is an associate professor at North Carolina State University where he earned his bachelors, masters, and Ph.D., with concentrations in turfgrass management and weed science. He leads a research program investigating the fate and behavior of pesticides and trace elements in soil, plants, air, and water. Gannon has experience working on a golf course crew and past research trials he led were conducted in various turfgrass environments including golf courses and athletic fields. Gannon also teaches two graduate level courses including pesticide chemistry and pesticide fate and behavior as well as mentoring both graduate and undergraduate students.
